Product Introduction
Acrylonitrile is an important monomer for synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber, and synthetic resins. Acrylonitrile fiber, also known as polyacrylonitrile, has properties very similar to wool, hence the name synthetic wool. Acrylonitrile copolymerized with butadiene produces nitrile rubber, which exhibits excellent oil resistance, cold resistance, abrasion resistance, and electrical insulation properties. Its properties are also stable in most chemical solvents, sunlight, and heat. Acrylonitrile copolymerized with butadiene and styrene produces ABS resin, which boasts advantages such as light weight, cold resistance, and good impact resistance. Acrylonitrile hydrolysis produces acrylamide, acrylic acid, and its esters. These are important organic chemical raw materials. Acrylonitrile can also be produced through electrolytic hydrogenation coupling to produce adiponitrile, which in turn can be hydrogenated to produce hexamethylenediamine, a raw material for nylon 66. Hexamethylenediamine can be used to manufacture water repellents and adhesives, and is also used in other organic synthesis and pharmaceutical applications, as well as as a grain fumigant. Furthermore, it is an aprotic polar solvent and a raw material for the oilfield mud additive PAC142.
